Just when we thought the lounge couldn't look much worse - last nights photos prove otherwise!
The blog here is very helpful for us. At the end of the day, when we feel like we haven't accomplished as much as we wanted, we come back and see just how different it all is! We didn't get to digging out the rubble yesterday, but we hope that will be today's job. We've got to do something about the dust first, though, because the kitchen is a complete nightmare at the end of the day! :)
We tore down many layers of old wallpaper (the previous owners were big fans of green, I'd say), and the backing of them were newspapers dated around 1938. This is one of the better pictures I could get - apparantly the typewriter is portable! How delightful! ;)
Of course, only girls type. Well, that's Marty's excuse anyway! :p
Until next time!
i think its all looking great, i think getting started is the hardest part & then maybe trying to finish when its been a long haul.
ReplyDeleteas for the newspaper its awesome, you should think about framing it along with part of the wall paper
it will be a great talking point later on down the track.
DH of Earthmotherwithin here. I have been delighted by following this story with you. I have always been fascinated to find old bits of newspaper behind renovations. An old house we lived in had an enveloped posted in 1923 behind a fireplace mantle we moved. WOW
ReplyDeleteI love the old newspaper. I agree with Nicole about trying to frame it. Are you going to keep any of the brick walls showing? I think they look really neat. You have done a tremendous amount of work on your cottage. I can't imagine doing all you have done. Keep up the good work.
