We quickly candled the eggs just now, and although we're beginners at it, I think 8 of the Wyandotte eggs are developing, and 9 Dorking eggs seem to be developing too. We'll leave the odd ones in there for a bit longer, just in case we got it wrong, but we've made an X on them so we know which ones they were.
So, not bad so far! Only 2 more weeks to go!
Now the excitement begins. Can't wait to see the pictures of your fluffy little chicks.
ReplyDeleteThe excitement builds! Backyard Poultry website has a useful set of images to help you work out what you are looking at when you candle- worked for me ...
ReplyDeleteThanks Olive, crossing fingers!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, Backyard Poultry has been a very handy website. We thought a couple of the Dorking eggs had blood rings, but can't be sure. Hopefully it'll become obvious within the next week.
Yes, candling at day 10 is better as you can really see where you are going then.
