Have towbar, will haul

While Marty is gone to help at the SES market, I thought I'd show off his hard work yesterday putting on the towbar!

He had to take off the rear bumper.. and jack the car up.

The little Daihatsu already had two of the bolt-holes.. and Marty drilled through the little car to add the other 5 required. The little jack came in handy for holding up the heavy towbar while he worked.

It was well and truly dark by the time it was all done. It's getting dark around 5pm now, though. The end result: we can now tow!!

We've got a little trailer lined-up from a local seller, and we're looking forward to not having to bag-up horse manure (one of us shovelling, the other holding the bag) before bringing it home in the back of the hatchback with all the windows down and our noses held. ;) Now we should be able to both shovel straight into the trailer and drive it home minus the flies. Hooray!

I've also been having fun keeping us warm with the pot-belly stove in the shed. It's a great little heater, but it will work better once we have all the windows back into place. :p

Aaah, just looking at that photo is warming my fingers. Inside the house is just getting into single digits (9.5°C / 49°F currently!) so we're keen as ever to get the Bakers Oven in and keeping us warm, as well as baking some banana muffins! (Our electric oven is only just getting up to 100°C (212°F) now.. it's dying a slow death.) Hopefully the bricks will be dry in a day or two and we can get onto painting the chimney. We'll leave the hassling of different companies until after the Queen's Birthday. :)

Until next time!
