Front loungeroom wall

I did a little plastering today and thought I'd share some of the process.

The lime is very alkaline and gloves are a good option unless you don't like fingerprints (or worse the longer the lime is on you!). The balls on the table are very very heavy and work well to help mix up the lime and sand.

This old cement mixer is great. The paddles on the sides don't go all the way to the back. It gives the balls plenty of room to do their thing.

This is the loungeroom wall that we took apart a long while ago now. We spend a lot of time here, and we would like to make a start on getting it looking nicer. The bricks look a little darker because I had wet the wall down ready for today's work.

Now it's one layer closer to being all plastered up again!

I'll wet the new plaster down a couple of times a day for the next few days (I hope I remember!) and give it plenty of time to set without cracking. After a week or two, it should be ready for the second coat.

Old techniques aren't fast, that's for sure. :)

  1. It looks great! Keep up the good work. It will all be worth it in the end.
