Manda scissor-hands

I must have felt like cutting stuff today - both the lemon tree and Marty fell victim. The lemon tree got skeletonised, that is, all of the branches except the major ones were removed. According to an old Gardening Australia magazine I picked up at an op-shop, this can be done every few years or so, and we should get some lovely healthy lemons in about 6 months time. Before this pic, the poor tree was producing masses of flowers and tiny fruit that never really got big or ripe. I've given it a good mulch, and we'll be sure to water it more often too.

...and this is the result of my attack on Marty! Har!

Something Marty worked on today is a temporary water tank. It's only little, but it's got to be better than seeing all that rainwater go down the pipes and disappear forever. It's the blue barrel in the background there, and Marty working on a wooden lid for it!

As you can see, Spring is well and truly here and the grass needs mowing again already!

Until next time!

  1. The lemon tree looks great and I hope you get lots of lemons. Good work on the water barrel Marty.

Manda, I laughed out loud at the pic of Marty's hair cut. I actually think it looks good but was surprised at how short it is.

I also loved that last pic of Marty you took. It made me think I could just reach out and hug him, sigh!!

Hi Henry, I bet you just love that big yard and that tree too.
