Off Topic: Grampians National Park

Something unrelated to the Old Miners Cottage - Marty and I took an afternoon visit to the Grampians National Park yesterday. The weather was lovely and warm. We drove to Halls Gap, then to Reed Lookout, one of the shorter walks, since we were only there for a little while. All pictures are available in a larger size by clicking on them.

Many of the wildflowers were still in bloom, and the little native bees were all over them.

Amazingly, the tourists didn't notice the little lizard sunning himself on the rocks. We noticed, and quickly took a picture before he scurried away from us all.

Marty admires the plant - we just have to get some of these in our backyard!

There was colour to be found in almost every nook and cranny.

Especially my t-shirt. ;)

Grass trees growing by some burned tree stumps - the fire occured about 2 years ago.

The Balconies.

A tea-tree flower caught our eye.

Moss and lichen.

My favourite little flower.

Marty enjoying the scenery.

Eucalyptus leaf.

These black caterpillars were in a big ball on the branch of a young eucalypt tree.. ewww..

Again, another tourist simply walked past this little lizard. We were delighted, because that meant all the pictures belonged to us. :)

  2. We went through the Grampians a few years ago, I think it was about 6 months to a year after the big fire went through, it was really wonderful, the Black Boys (grass trees) were popping up everywhere, and the gum trees looked like they had Yowie suits on with all the regrowth. It is a lovely place. Great Photos!! Thankyou for sharing them.
