It's stopped raining long enough to dry the first coat and yesterday evening we slapped a second coat on the strawbale wall. It was much faster than putting on the first coat! We only needed one wheelbarrow of mud, and we mixed in 2 scoop-fulls of sand, too.
This is how it turned out!
A close up of the sticky mess. :)
This is the top of the chook pen. It shows the iron we used (second hand, obviously), the wood frame that holds it all together, and the roof shows a little of the aircell insulation sticking out. Yes, we've insulated the roof! Lucky chooks!
Happy with the final result, only one more coat to go!
It's a messy job, but really fun and satisfying to do!
Today is nice weather, and hopefully it'll dry before the expected rain. We're keeping a lookout for a window or two before we can put up the other 3 walls, then the doors..
Until next time!
Wow, I am really impressed. Should keep the Chooks very comfortable. Love the pic of you two. Made me smile. Love ya, Mom
